Council of Churches of Santa Clara County
--
The Purpose of the Council of Churches of Santa Clara County is
to be the ecumenical presence in the county.
The Mission of the Council of Churches of Santa Clara County is
to serve as a catalyst for its members as they act locally:
• to strengthen their ministries
• to support each other and
• to provide moral leadership
for meaningful social change.
As a catalyst for it's members, it is the role of the Council of
Churches to serve as an instigator, enabler, incubator, and connector
on issues of concern to its members.
The Council exists to serve its members and affiliate members by
enabling and empowering them to meet their collective goals as they
act locally.
The Council focuses its efforts on issues of concern to those
who live within Santa Clara County and in so doing helps its
members address those issues to strengthen their ministries.
The Council will support the development of activities that help
its members carry out their mission to support each other.
The Council will promote innovative ways for member
congregations to support one another by sharing resources and activities.
To provide moral leadership, the Council of Churches will provide
a prophetic voice empowering member congregations to contribute
to meaningful social change by joining with others through the actions
of the Council in its role of catalyst.
The Council of Churches is uniquely positioned as a religious
body to speak reflecting its members to the ethical dilemmas
facing the County.
It is not possible to effect meaningful social change for every
issue facing contemporary society. The Council therefore, will
focus on a few selected issues. |
